The Long Journey Home combines the endless freedom of space with a new open questing system that always leaves you in command. Deliver the stranded Glukkt to his homeworld as he asks, or to your new slaver friends? Attempt to make allies with everyone, or pin your hopes on the tougher races, and hope they never turn on you? Jump by jump, make hard decisions and live with the consequences, in a universe that is never the same twice.
Storyline
The Long Journey Home is a space exploration adventure that begins with humanity's first great leap into the stars. The player takes command of the crew of Earth's first jump-capable starship, embarking on what should be a historic maiden voyage. But the inaugural jump to Alpha Centauri goes catastrophically wrong, flinging the ship and its misfit crew clear across the galaxy and leaving them stranded impossibly far from home. Marooned in uncharted space, the crew must find their own way back, navigating a vast and procedurally generated universe governed by unforgiving, realistic physics that demand careful use of gravity and momentum just to travel between worlds. Along the way they encounter a diverse array of alien species, each with its own culture and customs, who offer quests and opportunities as often as they pose the risk of misunderstanding. Every choice shapes the voyage as the crew struggles against isolation and vulnerability in the long and perilous journey back to Earth.
