Star Control: Origins
Summary
Star Control: Origins is a science fiction action-adventure game that combines planetary exploration, diplomacy with alien races, and one-on-one ship-to-ship space battles. Players captain a starship, sending a lander to survey planets, gather resources, and examine artifacts, then spending those resources on new technologies, weapons, upgrades, and ships from other races. The top-down Fleet Battles pit two vessels against each other and can be played against the AI or in multiplayer. It is considered part of the Star Control series but takes place in a separate universe from the original games.
Storyline
In the year 2088, humanity's space agency Star Control launches Earth's first interstellar-capable ship to investigate an alien distress signal. The player takes the role of that ship's captain, venturing out from the Solar System into a largely unknown galaxy. What begins as a response to a single signal opens into a wider journey of exploring distant worlds, making contact with alien species, and navigating the alliances and conflicts that follow. Characters, species, and events encountered along the way present quests that draw the captain deeper into the galaxy and its mysteries.
