Storyline

Age of Wonders 4 is a fantasy turn-based strategy game set on the ancient, magic-soaked world of Athla and the countless realms scattered across the ethereal Astral Sea. Long ago, the tyrannical Wizard Kings were banished from Athla, ushering in an age of diminished magic in which mortal empires flourished in their absence. Now that era is ending. Twisted and empowered by centuries of exile in shadowy otherworlds, the Wizard Kings return to reclaim the realms from which they were cast out, setting themselves up as gods over mortalkind and preying upon peaceful worlds to grow their strength. Against this looming threat, a new mortal ruler rises to defend their people. Ascending toward the godlike power of the Godir, this champion must build a home for their tribe, master forbidden arts, and rally the population for a desperate confrontation, standing as the last hope against the resurgent Wizard Kings and the darkness spilling through the World Gates.
